The village of Hemlingby is located just a few kilometres south of Gävle centre, bordered by Riksväg 76 on the eastern and western sides, xxx on the northern side, and forest to the south.

The oldest map I could find was from 1765. Here the villages is clearly separated from its surroundings by forest.

The next map comes from 1870 and it can be clearly seen that changes have occured.

The similiarities with todays village are still not really there as many houses have been modernised and extended. Several properties have been split up and new roads have been built.
